Religious Education
We believe that it is important for all our pupils to learn from and about religion, so that they can understand the world around them.
Our RE curriculum is designed to encourage children to think about the way that religious beliefs may shape peoples' lives, culture or behaviour. We develop their ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues and enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. We aim to engage and enthuse learners whilst nurturing their understanding and awareness of belonging and diversity whatever their own family background, personal beliefs and practices.
It is our intent that children will learn about a range of religions and world views and through mutual respect, tolerance of others’ views and exposure to different religious views, linking these to our Badsey Values. We encourage pupils to learn about religious and non-religious worldviews in order to discover, explore and consider different answers to religious and moral questions. In doing so we enable our children to make their own informed decisions and to have the aspiration and confidence to voice their views.
In our school, we follow Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus. The Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus has been created for Worcestershire SACRE (Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education) and approved by Worcestershire County Council.
The Worcestershire Agreed Syllabus for RE has a threefold aim:
1. Make sense of a range of religious and non-religious beliefs.
2. Understand the impact and significance of religious and non-religious beliefs.
3. Make connections between religious and non-religious beliefs, concepts, practices and ideas studied.
